Security guard training has been a hot topic since last year when the U.S. Army began requiring security guards to wear body cameras.
Now the U-Maine National Guard has confirmed its own privacy guard will be in the program, which will have the same standards as the national guard.
The new guardsman will undergo training at U-MN.
The school announced Monday that the unit will be a “security guard training unit,” meaning the units privacy guards will be wearing cameras and wearing the same uniforms as the other security guards.
The U-Mass-Amherst unit will begin in 2019 and have been training for about a year, with a final evaluation scheduled for next spring.
